Puja Amin

Puja Amin, founder of Sanskriti Arts Ensemble, was born and raised in Mumbai, India. She started Sanskriti Arts Ensemble, Toronto in 2004 to share her passion for Indian culture, dance and music.

Training in Dance: Puja began studying Indian dance at the tender age of 5 and has received professional training in Kathak, Indian folk, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Ballroom and International dancing, giving her a diverse, worldwide appeal and reach. Puja commenced her culture in Kathak with Guru Anjali Gupta, senior disciple of Pandit Shri Birju Maharaj and continues her education with Joanna D’souza, Senior disciple of Pandit Shri Chitresh Das. She has also had the privilege of learning from Kathak Legend Pandit Shri Birju Maharaj, Guru Chitresh das, Guru Kumudini Lakhiya and Guru Anjani Ambegaonkar.

Accomplishments: Puja has worked with high profile stars and known personalities from Bollywood (Indian film industry) on film sets, directorial campaigns, dance tours and concerts around India, Canada and the world. Her choreography has been enhanced by and has enriched the works of various directors, choreographers and actors. Her choreography has been displayed in concerts and music videos for Falguni Pathak, Ila Arun and Lata Mangeshkar (‘Nightingale of India’).  Puja is a also a licensed Physiotherapist and Yoga Instructor.
